Mexican muralist David Alfaro Siqueiros painted his last major work for a hotel project planned for the Mexico City Olympics—an epic reassertion of muralism’s mass appeal. After the state-sponsored Tlatelolco massacre in 1968, the mural also became an archive for the critical gestures available to Mexican citizens after decades of modernization under authoritarian rule.
