Is Bukele still El Salvador's savior? Not for all abroad

"Salvadorans have been living in insecure conditions for over 20 years," Jorge E. Cuéllar, an assistant professor at Dartmouth College who focuses his research and teaching in modern Central America, said in an interview. Then comes Bukele, who, through an aggressive crackdown on gangs and crime at the expense of human rights and democratic check and balances, restores security. "We can't discount the fact that that's a valuable thing to Salvadorans."
