Dissertation Awards for Ramirez-Lopez

The Latin American Studies Association has presented the Dissertation Award to Jorge Ramirez-Lopez for his dissertation "Indigenous Worldmaking in a World of Crisis: Race and the Making of the Migrant Circuit between Southern Mexico and the US/Mexican Pacific Coast, 1968-1994."

In additon, his dissertation was given an honorable mention by the LASA/Oxfam American Martin Diskin Dissertation Awards.

The Martin Diskin Dissertation Award is made possible through the generosity of Oxfam America, LASA, and LASA members. This award is offered at each LASA International Congress to an outstanding junior scholar who embodies Professor Diskin's commitment to the creative combination of activism and scholarship.

 

Ramierz-Lopez is a Research Associate in the Society of Fellows and in the Department of Latin American, Latino, and Caribbean Studies (LALACS). His PhD work was completed at University of California-San Diego.
