LALACS Faculty Urge Dartmouth to Reaffirm Commitment to DACA Students

Promises to deport undocumented immigrants were central to the campaign of president-elect Trump, leading to uncertainty about the status of many Dartmouth students, particularly those whose residency had been protected under the Obama Administration’s Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program. Dartmouth’s policy has been to maintain “citizenship-blind” admissions and financial aid, consistent with DACA. LALACS faculty unanimously urged President Hanlon to reaffirm this institutional commitment, regardless of whatever changes in immigration policy might come about.
