Prof. Douglas Moody has been the faculty advisor for the Cross-cultural Educational Service Program (CCESP) for ten years and recently returned from an international service trip to Nicaragua with Dartmouth students.

Dartmouth College will host an Ibero-American cinema festival between January 13-February 17, 2016. Six films will be screened at the Loew Auditorium in the Black Family Visual Arts Center. Full program can be found here.

Almita Miranda is the 2015-2016 César Chávez Fellow. Miranda is a Ph.D. candidate in the Department of Anthropology at Northwestern University. Her research interests are in cultural and political/legal anthropology, race/ethnicity, gender, (im)migration, citizenship, transnationalism, Latino families and grassroots organizing in the U.S. and Mexico/Latin America.

Scholarship, as well as a chance meeting, brought Reena Goldthree , an assistant professor of African and African American Studies, to Dartmouth in 2010, where she has been studying the history of modern Latin America and the Caribbean.

After Leandra Pilar Barrett ’15 finished high school in Alice, Texas, she came to Dartmouth unsure of her long-term goals but knowing the College had many strong academic programs and focused on undergraduates. Her major— Latin American, Latino & Caribbean Studies—is interdisciplinary, but Barrett is most interested in border studies, race, ethnicity, and the prison system....

Leandra Pilar Barrett, a senior major in Latino Studies, will be presenting her senior honors thesis research at Harvard College on April 11, 2015 during the Diversity, (In)equity, and Social Justice Undergraduate Research Conference. Her project Pedir Posada: (infra)structural violence, gender, and asylum in south Texas .
